What is Biometric unlock?
In short
Biometric unlock means a security key opens with a fingerprint or face check rather than a typed passphrase.
Biometric unlock is a security key that opens by reading your fingerprint, or another body trait, instead of asking you to type a long passphrase. It trades one protection for another: convenience at the desk against a physical touch, so it suits people who unlock their accounts constantly and keep the key on a lanyard.
Support splits across this group. Thetis, Token2 and Yubico offer biometric unlock. CryptoTrust and SoloKeys do not, which means you type a passphrase at the key itself. Check that choice against how often you sign in before you pick a model.
